About Shylus

It is with the heart of a poet and a romantic that I express little surprise that Shylus' heart was too big for his little body. One only needs to catch a glimpse of him and his twin, Shaymound, to see that the loving bond between them is palpable. They drift apart for only moments at a time only to reunite with a touch or loving nudge. Their love extends to all the other foster kittens in our home. Shylus is the first to welcome every new kitten. He is also loved by our household cats, including cynical Charlie, shy Oscar and feisty Thistle. Even grumpy ol' Chammie has succumbed to his charms. And there is nothing like seeing him lovingly rub up against Oriah's big Bernese Mountain Dog head that is bigger than he! Shylus needed a surgery to repair the congenital heart defect, which, thanks to Independent Animal Rescue and the great vets and students at NC State Veterinary Hospital, has been a great success. Thanks to them, Shylus is home, spreading his loving and generous spirit to everyone in our family of humans, cats, dogs and birds! Independent Animal Rescue is an amazing organization and they've raised 20% of his $3,000 bill, but more help is needed.

Shylus is home! He had surgery on August 22, and I was able to bring him home on August 24. I can't imagine a warmer reception from all his kitten/cat/dog foster siblings. Everyone was delighted to have him home, especially Shaymound, who couldn't have been more delighted.

Best of all, his heart is fixed, he has a heck of an incision to show off to his friends and a complimentary sweater!
